Easy Pan Fried Tilapia

Who doesn't love a good fried fish? Whenever I'm in the mood to make fish and grits or red beans and rice, I just have to make some fried tilapia! Tilapia is one of the easiest fish to cook especially for home cooks new to cooking fish in general (I would know, haha) and it only takes about 8 minutes to cook. Baked or fried, tilapia is delicious and there's some many ways to season it. This recipe is one of the best recipes for beginners to cooking fish and is one of the more simple ways to cook tilapia. Beginner cook or not, you won't be able to get enough of this fish!

Ingredients:

-2-4 tilapia fillets

-1/2 tsp. Lawry's Seasoned Salt or Lawry's Garlic Salt with Parsley

-1/4 tsp. onion powder

-1/4 tsp. garlic powder

- 1/8 tsp. black pepper

-1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper

-1/4 cup flour

-vegetable oil for cooking

Note: This recipe can be made with or without the flour coating and is delicious both ways

Steps:

  1. Mix all seasonings in a small bowl and set aside. In another bowl, add the flour. Spread all seasonings except the flour evenly on both sides of the tilapia. Dip each piece of tilapia into the flour until coated on both sides. Shake and set aside. Repeat for all pieces of tilapia.

  2. Heat some vegetable oil in a large pan on med-high heat. Add one or two pieces depending on how much you can fit into the pan without crowding the pan. Cook for 4 minutes on each side then set aside onto a plate lined with paper towels. Repeat until all of the fish is cooked. Serve with your favorite sides. Enjoy!
