Green beans are delicious and nutritious but sometimes home cooks can be at a loss on how to season them. Gone are the days where the most popular way to cook green beans is to boil them with onions, ham/or bacon, and potatoes. The southern method is delicious but not very healthy since it involves cooking the green beans for so long that all the nutrients are boiled out of them. This recipe is delicious and a twist on green beans while still having a short enough cooking time to preserve the nutrients. Once you try this recipe, you'll want to make spicy green beans with everything!
Ingredients:
-1 lb. fresh green beans
-4 cups chicken broth
-2 tbs. minced garlic
-3 tbs. lemon juice
-1/4 tsp. red crushed pepper or 1/2 tsp. if you want it hotter
-1 tsp. salt
-1 tsp. smoked paprika
-black pepper to taste
Steps:
Bring chicken broth to a boil. Add green beans and all seasonings. Cover and cook on med-low heat for 15 minutes. Serve with your favorite chicken or fish dishes. Enjoy!
